Street View of Childhood Home

Google Maps has been adding street view shots of addresses in large cities across the country almost daily. This is much different than the satellite view that's been available for quite some time. My current address is available in street view, so those of you who know my address can type it into the address bar on Google Maps. Unfortunately, most of my family's addresses are not yet available. I did find this great street view shot. It's a picture of my childhood home in Virginia Beach. We lived at 680 East Coral Key.

I can't believe how small the home looks because it always seemed so big to me when we lived there. The best part about this house is that it had the biggest and best backyard. My dad and a few neighbors were able to make the canal accessible by boat so that we could go fishing in the Chesapeake Bay without ever getting in the car. I remember leaving in the morning without any shoes, checking the many crab traps that we had throughout the Lynnhaven Bay and staying out all day and then coming home with crabs and flounder.

You Know I have the same memories... but what is really sad is that the yard, both front and back were beautiful and there were azaelias and gardenias all along the front porch. It is all gone and nothing but rock. We drove by and took pictures when we were in the Virginia Beach area 2 summers ago.
